Wendy asks for fashion input....

Hello friends! I have a dilemma, and I've decided to let blogland decide it for me.....

So I have an almost-6-month-old baby, which means that it's been over a year since I've been able to just walk to the closet and pull out something cute. Every day I get to play "What's going to fit me today?"

But shoes have never done me wrong. Through thick and thin {ahem....} my shoes have been by my side.

So as I gear up to try to find some jeans that fit and don't show my underwear, I'm going for a pair of shoes.

You see, I want a pair of shoes that is cute and a little interesting. And I like all the converse tennis shoes that are out, mostly because I'm a child of the 80's and I never had a pair of converse then. So I'm trying to make up for it now.

But please keep in mind that my everyday uniform for "work" is jeans and a T-shirt, which will probably have barf on it within the first hour of the day. {"work" is keeping up with my kiddos, my classes, my orders, and of course all of you wonderful people}

So, here's option 1: standard pink converse tennis shoes

And here's option 2: the silver metallic converseAnd here's where you come in, friends. Please vote for my new shoes:

(A) No converse! You're too old!
(B) pink ones.
(C) get the silver ones
(D) get 'em both, and a Hypercolor tee to go with.....

Things I had to re-learn today

Today the universe has felt the need to remind me of a few general truths.
1. Never, ever, EVER take a baby anywhere without a diaper bag. It doesn't matter that you only are going to be there for 30 minutes. Those 30 minutes will be the time that the child decides to barf (twice) and poop (explosively).

2. You can never buy enough white thread. Just have as much of it as you can store in the closet and you won't have to stop a project until you can get to the store by yourself (unlikely) or take the children with you (suicide).

3. Multicolor thread is expensive and comes in very small quantities. Don't expect a spool to do as much as you want it to. ever. It doesn't matter if it looks like a normal sized spool. It isn't.

4. You can never have enough fabric. Look at what arrived in the mail today! I love it! I have no idea what I'm going to use it for.

A fit of insanity that ended in cupcakes.

A friend mentioned cupcakes on her blog (you know who you are!) which prompted a few days in which I NEEDED cupcakes. Totally fixated on cupcakes. And cheeseburgers.
Today I finally had a little bit of time and made this recipe, and it makes me happy that it was posted on a quilting site! Anyway, it was utterly fabulous. Totally recommend it.
And I had to laugh when my 2-year old demanded sprinkles on her made-from-scratch, Waldorf Astoria red velvet cupcake.
Because cupcakes require sprinkles, apparently!

Ways to Annoy people...2 Year old Style

Those of us who were in college in the 90's probably remember seeing lots of lists about "How to Annoy your Roommate" and such. They were funny. And it was in the early days of the web, and we were thrilled with our ability to send funny things to each other. Here's a pretty good example.

So I'd like to present..... Ways to Annoy people...2 Year old Style
Please try these out on your friends and coworkers and report back how long it takes before they beat you about the face and head.....

1. Anytime you hear a statement, ask "WHY?" Repeat until the person leaves the room.
2. Announce anytime someone uses the bathroom. Congratulate them and do a special dance. Offer to get them candy.
3. Remove your shoes at least once an hour. Insist that other people put them back on for you.
4. Learn new words. Use them at inappropriate times. Loudly.
5. Change your mind. A lot.
6. Stand waaaayyyy too close. Preferably on people's feet.
7. Close all doors you encounter. Every single one.
8. Request food. Refuse to eat it. Request more food. Don't eat that either. Complain about how hungry you are.
9. Color on stuff in permanent marker. Legal documents, furniture, pets and clothing are the best.
10. Insist that all yellow objects are actually orange. Argue loudly about it.
11. Ignore the existence of the number 7.

Moms of 2-year-olds out there, you ROCK! Hang in there!
